Managing Credits
Tools and practices for monitoring and managing your DUTO credits effectively.
Checking Your Balance
Navigation Bar
Your current credit balance is displayed in the navigation bar. It shows the number of available credits and auto-refreshes every 30 seconds.
After Workflow Runs
Credits automatically refresh after a workflow completes (whether successful or errored). The useCreditsWithWorkflowRefetch hook subscribes to workflow status changes and triggers a re-fetch.
Credit History
The useCredits hook fetches your last 20 credit transactions. Each transaction records:
- Amount deducted
- Operation type
- Timestamp
- Associated model
View your history from the Billing page in Account Settings.
Low Credit Alerts
A LowCreditPrompt component appears when your balance drops below 100 credits. The alert behavior depends on your plan:
Free Tier Users
- Low credits (under 100): Shows remaining balance with an "Upgrade Plan" button
- Zero credits: Shows "Free Credits Used Up" message with an "Upgrade Now" button
Paid Subscribers
- Low credits (under 100): Shows remaining balance with "Buy Credits" and "Upgrade Plan" buttons
The prompt can be dismissed for 24 hours. It does not appear on the Billing page itself.
Cost Estimation
NodeCostBadge
Every generation node in the Flow Editor displays a cost badge on hover. The badge shows a coin icon with the estimated credit cost for the current model and configuration. This lets you know the cost before running a workflow.
The badge updates in real time as you change the node's model, resolution, or duration settings.
Pre-Run Credit Check
Before any generation node executes, the system performs a credit check:
- Looks up the model price from the
pricing_matrixdatabase - Compares the required credits against your available balance
- If insufficient, the node shows: "Insufficient credits: need X, have Y"
- If sufficient, the operation proceeds

Saving Credits
Use Budget Mode
Budget models cost significantly less:
- Images: SeedDream v4.5 is one of the cheapest image generation models
- Videos: Kling v2.6 standard tiers cost less than premium models
Use budget models for testing and iteration, then switch to premium for final outputs.
Test Before Committing
- Use the Brain node (free) to refine your prompts
- Generate with a budget model first
- Once satisfied with the concept, switch to your preferred model for the final generation
Check Costs Before Running
- Hover over generation nodes to see their credit cost
- For batch workflows, multiply the per-node cost by the number of items
- Consider the total workflow cost before clicking Run
Use Free Nodes for Preparation
Brain, Analyzer, Prompt Expander, and other intelligence nodes are free. Use them to prepare and validate your inputs before spending credits on generation.
